Herbal Oils, Vinegars and Wines.

Herbal oils are great to make! You’ll need to use a really nice Olive Oil as a base. Remember, you don’t need to use cold press oils if they are going to be heated! Use a normal Olive Oil off the grocery store shelf and save the cold press gourmet stuff for special dressing and dips.

You’ll need 1 tablespoon of fresh herbs for every one cup of Olive Oil. That means you’ll want to take a fresh sprig of herbs and put it in the oil. The dollar store usually has some beautiful little bottles that you can dress this up with. Put your herb in, then cover the herb with the oil. put a cap on it and put it in a warm, dark place. Now usually, you want to do this on a new moon…or no moon and the reason is that you get gravitational pull to pull the flavor out of the herb and into the oil. Gravitational pull is what causes the oceans to have tides and it does the same thing to anything with water in it, like herbs!…so, you’ll go through the cycle…new moon is when you make your oils, vinegars and wines and the next new moon is when you strain all of your bottled beauties off! It takes about 45 days to do an oil, vinegar or wine.,
